Shelby's Treats

Peanut Butter Carrot Puppy Biscuits

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    5 cups flour
3 cups rolled oats (I personally use steel cut oats)
    2-1/4 cups water
    5 large carrots, finely shredded
    2/3 cup peanut butter
    1/2 cup applesauce

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. In a bowl, combine flour and oats. Mix in water, carrots, peanut butter, and applesauce.

3. Knead dough until people-cookie dough consistency. Roll out dough to desired thickness on a floured surface. Use cookie cutters to create biscuit shapes.

4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until slightly firm. Let biscuits cool... and let pups enjoy!

***This was 2/4 pans i ended up with out of this batch.

The steel cut oats i buy. Usually i just buy the one on the left because i can find it at walmart in the cereal asile however this time i bought some from aldis and i'm going to go stock up i think. It was a couple bucks cheaper and it's 4oz more!!!

  2. they're a simple treat. and you can do them in whatever shapes you want and whatever sizes. i go for the smaller sizes because they make more. and the fact that i can store them in the freezer rocks! plus i don't notice gas so much with these as i do with other treats. instead of the rolled oats that it asks for i actually use the steel cut oats. i can't find the rolled oats. :( overall though even if it is a bit sticky it is really nice and saves a ton of money because each container of the oats i buy makes 1 1/2 batches. if i do them small i get 4 pans or so, sometimes more.
